Grossglockner Myth

No question, it is the content of many dreams, a myth and a coveted destination for many mountaineers, the Großglockner with Austria's highest peak at 3,798 m above sea level. Have you already lived the dream of climbing the Großglockner? Then it's time. The summit tour starting from Heiligenblut is long, steep and exposed, but by no means impossible. In two days, accompanied by a Heiligenblut mountain guide, you can manage the 1,800 m ascent to the golden summit cross.

A wooden signpost in a wooded area bears the words "Retschitz" and "Heiligenblut." In the background, two hikers with backpacks are walking up a grassy hill surrounded by tall trees.

Hiking & more

Summer at Grossglockner is so diverse

Follow nature's trail, every step of the way in the largest protected area of the Alps. The views of the peaks and mountains of the Hohe Tauern are all the better for those who move along wonderful hiking trails and have the time and leisure to pause and gaze into the distance.

Two people sit on a grassy hill surrounded by trees, enjoying a drink with a scenic view of the mountains in the background.

Two people wearing helmets and climbing gear navigate a steep, rocky path beside a deep, circular rock formation with water at the bottom. The person in front is smiling and gesturing outward, while the person behind follows closely.

Möll Gorge

The Möllschlucht Klettersteig is a mighty gorge via ferrata at the foot of the Großglockner! The via ferrata runs along 420 m of steel cable through the gorge washed out by the Möll river, just before Heiligenblut. The system is characterized above all by the extremely long rope bridges for gorge via ferratas. The beautiful combination of turquoise pools, small waterfalls and steep wall passages make up the charm of this via ferrata.

After the difficult tour, you can fortify yourself in the Gasthof Sonnblick and admire the view of the church of Heiligenblut and, with a little luck, the Großglockner in the distance.

Two people wearing helmets and harnesses navigate a treetop adventure course. One person stands on a wooden platform attached to a tree, while the other is on a rope bridge. The background features trees and a view of a valley.

Heiligenblut Climbing Park

The high ropes course at the Gasthof Sonnblick is an experience for the whole family and a highlight for every courageous individual.

The climbing wall offers many opportunities to climb the heights and guarantees variety in your vacation. Climbing is an experience! At other facilities you can test your skill and body coordination, climb/ascend to dizzying heights and fly like a bird on a Flying-Fox facility!
